Let’s look at John 16:33 NLT, 33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” It’s sad to say, but far too many Christians live burdened down by the negative influence of the world. They accept failure too readily, because they have allowed their faith to become weak and their spirit to grow faint from the negativity around them. Of course, it would be foolish to deny that we live in a negative world. We live in a world full of trouble. Real problems exist everywhere. Jesus told us in this verse to take heart, to be of good cheer, in the midst of storms. Yet instead of having a cheerful attitude, Christians often become weary, hopeless, and negative as the world around them. In the natural, because of all of the trouble in the world, we have smart bombs, home security systems, law enforcement agencies, prisons, hospitals, medical personnel, and so forth to “HELP” us feel at peace. But despite all of man’s assistance, people are still fearful and crying out for help. Many of them are grasping for hope, yet at the same time, saying, “what are we going to do? It’s hopeless. We can’t win.”
